June 2019 Update

Cole Family in Mexico

Jesus healed our car.

We handed in the keys to our apartment and drove our car filled with the last of our things from Milwaukee to Green Bay. The drive felt extra bumpy and annoying and we chalked it up to being all of the heavy stuff in the back seat. The next day when after we had unloaded, we drove the car again and the ride was so bumpy that our heads nearly hit the ceiling. The rear suspension was out. We had to wait almost a week to have it seen by a mechanic and found ourselves googling how much it was going to cost. Google provided us with an estimate of around $1,500.

We finally got the car to the mechanic and they called us back a few hours later with crazy news. The suspension was working just fine. They cleaned off some corrosion and it went back to working like it should! We left only paying a little over $100 for them to fix our broken AC!
God is near.

We mapped out our California Trip last night.
We have just a few more weeks left in Wisconsin before we head out West for the Summer to connect with our contacts and our home church Roots in Tehachapi, CA. It has been several years since we’ve spent much time there, so we are thrilled to catch up with friends and family there!

Also, God Bless all the In•N•Out we will eat while we’re there. Amen.

Avance
There are currently 5 new participants for the summer program! Pray for transformation in their lives and the lives of the people they meet as they serve alongside their host families in their local churches this summer!

We are meeting twice a month via Skype with the directors of Avance, Paul & Nydia Johnson, to get connected with what’s going on there as we make the transition southward to CDMX. We hope to create a connectedness with the current team down there even while we are still stateside!

Funding
We are eager to share that 30% of our monthly finances are provided for! God continues to affirm our path and provide for our needs through our generous partners.
What a mighty God we serve.

Please Pray
•For the Cole fam to be funded at 65% by the end of July.
-Specifically 1 partner at $500/mo, 3 at $200, and 12 at $100.
• For our travels next week cross country & for patience with each other and the kids on the road. We will be on the road for over 45 hours.
• For us to be able to fuel our bodies with healthy meals during our travels so we can be our best physically and mentally.
• For the 5 Avance summer participants and for the Lord to grow them and use them in mighty ways this summer!

12 weeks.

12 weeks.

Almost 5 weeks have past since Zinnia was born. Our sweet little flower. Since she was born, Erik has ended his job at Marquette, we sold (almost) all of our belongings, packed the rest of our stuff up, moved in with Erik’s parents, and took a cross country road trip to Colorado.

If you’re gonna ask us ‘how do you do it all??”- the answer is jesus and antioxidants.

We were able to spend time with sweet friends and family for the weekend in Colorado as we saw our friend Zach marry the love of his life. A few years ago, after we had already returned to the United States, we somehow convinced Zach that he should spend a summer in Mexico City. Because he’s a sucker for tacos, he decided to go, and just like anyone who lives in a massive Latin American city with a local host family, his life was changed for it.

Zach spent a summer in Mexico with a rad program called Avance. Rad is an understatement really. Avance connects young adults like Zach to local churches and ministries around the city and teaches them how to serve a culture that isn’t their own. Avance helps people to live outside the boxes of religion and across the lines of cultures.

About 5 years ago, Erik and I were also young adults who learned a lot about ourselves, and about our God, and about humility as participants of Avance.

We are now preparing to return as full time staff of Avance to walk along side other young adults and Mexican locals in a cross cultural combination that looks a little like heaven.

At the wedding, it was encouraging to visit with old friends who, from the time we met them, have known our great desire to return to our lives in cdmx.

God is bringing the people he knows we need the most into close proximity with us lately. He’s so good like that.

This week, as we head back to Wisconsin, (we are literally half way through our road trip back home as we speak) marks the official start to the next few months of partnering with our friends, old and new, to raise our salary.

Our goal is to have our funds raised by September 1st. 12 weeks! We are currently 12% funded.

We are actively seeking monthly financial partnerships with families and individuals! Please reach out to us if you want to learn more about what God is doing in Mexico.
